Rep. Marino Votes to Protect Pennsylvania Industry
Washington D.C. – Rep. Tom Marino released the following statement after voting against S. 612 the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act:
“The Delaware River Basin Commission has continuously halted economic activity in northeastern Pennsylvania to the detriment of our workers, businesses and landowners. Unfortunately, last minute changes to the water resources bill expanded authorization for invasive policies that further harm industries across the region and ignore expansive efforts to preserve and responsibly utilize the woods, fields and streams in the area. In addition, the vagueness of this language builds a dangerous foundation for future exploitation and excessive regulatory burdens.
“While I actually support many of the provisions included in the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act, it has sadly become yet another bill of goods put together by out-of-touch politicians unaware of the true struggles facing working-class America. Rather than funding big organizations with misguided interests, we should be supporting northeastern Pennsylvanians by giving local businesses the opportunity to directly address their concerns. For the sake of my constituents and the economic development in the region, I was forced to oppose the costly environmental oversteps added into this bill.”
