Rep. Marino Supports President Trump’s Decision to Leave Iran Nuclear Agreement
Washington D.C.—Congressman Tom Marino (PA-10) issued the following statement in support of President Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Iran Nuclear Deal:
“I applaud the President’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Obama Administration’s flawed Iran Nuclear Deal. For years I have said that the deal is a scam, that it was poorly negotiated, and that it is in direct conflict with the interests of the United States and our allies.
“Intelligence recently released by Israel shows that Iran entered into the deal in bad faith and lied about its past efforts to develop nuclear weapons. Additionally, the deal allowed huge sums of cash to flow into Iran, which the country used to fund proxy wars across the Middle East. The net impact of the deal is that Iran remains the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism, and, at best, it was merely delayed in obtaining the ability to develop nuclear weapons.
“Iran’s ongoing commitment to obtaining nuclear weapons and its efforts to undermine the U.S. through proxy wars warrant swift action on the part of the United States. Moving forward, President Trump’s decision will allow the U.S. to block all possible paths to Iran becoming a nuclear state by re-imposing stringent economic sanctions. This will limit Iran’s ability to destabilize the Middle East, and it will bolster the national security of the United States and our allies.”
