Rep. Marino Named Vice Chairman of Subcommittee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Tom Marino, R-Lycoming Township, has been named Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response and Communications, it was announced by Rep. Peter King, Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security.
In addition, King, a New York Republican, named Marino to two other Homeland Security subcommittees – Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection & Security Technologies, and Oversight, Investigations & Management.
King cited Marino’s prosecutorial experience as a U.S. Attorney and District Attorney when announcing Marino’s appointment as Vice Chairman.
“ Tom will be a true asset to the Homeland Security Committee as we work to protect our homeland from terrorists who continue to plot and execute attacks against our nation,” King said.
“ As a former U.S. Attorney and District Attorney, Tom has proven experience in protecting the citizens of this country. Tom will be critical in ensuring that the Department of Homeland Security is prepared to respond to acts of terrorism and natural disasters. I look forward to working with Tom on many important issues, including our efforts to strengthen communications for America’s first responders.”
Marino, a freshman representing the 10th District, also was assigned to the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees. He serves on two Judiciary subcommittees: Crime, Terrorism & Homeland Security, and Intellectual Property, Competition & the Internet.
