Rep. Marino Leads Effort to Clarify Comey Comments on Clinton Email Scandal
Washington D.C.— On Monday, Rep. Tom Marino (PA-10) sent a letter to FBI Director James Comey asking for clarification on the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of an illegal email server while Secretary of State. Thirty-four congressman joined Rep. Marino in sending this letter.
In an exchange with Rep. Trey Gowdy (SC-04), Director Comey admitted that Mrs. Clinton’s public statements were inconsistent with what the FBI found in their investigation. However, Hillary Clinton has since stated this is not what the FBI director meant. Rep. Marino’s letter asks the FBI to not only clarify this discrepancy, but to also send the transcripts/notes/recordings of Mrs. Clinton’s interview with the FBI to Congress for further review.
Rep. Marino issued the following statement:
“I am done sitting idly by as too big to fail politicians get away with breaking the law and misleading the American people. Hillary Clinton used an illegal server and acted in an ‘extremely reckless’ manner with regards to classified information. She then went to great lengths to hide her actions and continuously fed a false narrative to the public. This seems to be an unfortunate reoccurrence with Mrs. Clinton. That is why I have reached out to FBI Director Comey, so that he can clarify his remarks and Mrs. Clinton will have to answer for her complete disregard for the truth and will no longer be able to hide behind her many lies.”
