Rep. Marino Praises Grant to Modernize Infrastructure in Centre County
Washington, D.C.—Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has been awarded over $35 million to build a high-speed interchange at the I-99/I-80 intersection in Centre County.
The funds will be awarded through the DOT’s Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant program.
Representative Marino issued the following statement:
“Yesterday’s announcement from the Department of Transportation will benefit countless Pennsylvanians. This critical INFRA grant awarded to PennDOT is welcome news that will provide much needed improvements to highly utilized infrastructure in the state. It is no secret that the current I-99/I-80 interchange is obsolete and poses severe safety threats to travelers, and I am pleased to have worked with Representatives Glenn Thompson and Lou Barletta in emphasizing the importance of this project to the Department of Transportation.
“With funding for the project secured, Pennsylvanians will have greater access to a modern and safe transportation thoroughfare through Centre County. This is a critical step in providing the region greater access to major East Coast markets. This latest development will go a long way in advancing the completion of I-99 to the New York border and I look forward to ensuring this vital project reaches fruition .”
