Marino Applauds Passage of Pennsylvania Rape Survivor Child Custody Bill
Williamsport, PA—Congressman Tom Marino (PA-10) issued the following statement regarding the passage of Pennsylvania Senate Bill 663 sponsored by Senator Randy Vulakovich (SD-38):
“This is another positive step forward in protecting victims of rape in our commonwealth. I am encouraged by the Senate’s passage of this bill which is in lockstep with a bill I sponsored earlier this year which became law this spring. I am thankful to Senator Vulakovich for his leadership on this effort and I urge the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to pass the bill as soon as possible.
Many states still do not have statutes which disallow parental rights of men who father via rape crimes. That is why it is imperative states work to close this loophole and protect rape victims from having to relive the trauma of their horrible experience.”
On May 19 of this year, Congressman Marino and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) applauded the passage of H.R. 2772–The Rape Survivor Child Custody Act in the United States House of Representatives.
On May 29, President Barack Obama signed the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015 into law which contained the provisions of H.R. 2772.
