Thompson, Marino Announce Disaster Assistance Briefings
FEMA, PEMA Offer Applicant Briefings for Five Effected Counties
Washington, D.C. (July 21, 2011) – Officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency will hold public assistance applicant briefings for Tioga, Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan and Wyoming counties July 25-27, according to representatives Glenn 'GT' Thompson (PA-5) and Tom Marino (PA-10). The briefings will assist elected officials, local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations apply for federal disaster assistance, to support recovery from severe storms and flooding during April 25-28.
Following a request by Gov. Tom Corbett for disaster assistance, which was reiterated in a joint letter by Reps. Thompson and Marino, a presidential disaster declaration was issued on July 13, making federal funding available for five Pennsylvania counties. Representatives from local governments and private non-profit organizations for these counties are encouraged to participate.
