Americans Encouraged to Interact with House Committee

February 28, 2011
Press Release

(WASHINGTON) – The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee has added tools to its website that allows the American people to interact with committee proceedings. U.S. Rep. Tom Marino, R-Lycoming Township, is a member of the committee.

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said the tools will allow people to submit questions for hearings and anonymously alert the Committee to instances of abuse and mismanagement in U.S. government agencies and programs.

The first feature, “Your Seat on the Dais,” will be in effect for the March 1 hearing with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. This allows the public to submit questions they would like committee members to pose to the witnesses.

Another feature, “Whistleblower,” will allow citizens and government officials to alert the committee to any instances of waste or misconduct.
