Academy Day Set for May 7 at WVW High School
WASHINGTON -- U.S. Reps. Tom Marino and Lou Barletta will host a U.S. Service Academy Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 at Wyoming Valley West High School, 150 Wadham St., Plymouth.
The event is designed to provide information about the opportunities offered by the U.S. Service Academies.
A representative of each academy will be on hand to answer questions and distribute information. Students who are interested in attending a military academy will learn about the application process.
“Deciding what path to take after high school is both exciting and overwhelming,” Marino said. “An often-overlooked option is a career at one of our fine service academies, possibly because some students may not be aware of the process. Hopefully, this event will answer many of their questions and pique the interest of others who may not have considered a military academy.”
The informational session is open to students and their families and friends. It is one of two Marino is hosting in the 10th District. The other is set for May 14 in Williamsport.
“Attending a United States service academy is a prestigious honor,” Barletta said. “Our service academies only take the best and brightest students, and the process to get into one can be complicated. I’m proud to partner with Representative Marino and offer this educational session for students in both of our districts.”
