Marino pushes for action from Administration, Senate
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Marino (PA-10) issued the following statement in response to July unemployment numbers released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
“The simple truth is that an unemployment rate of 8.3 percent is unacceptable. The President’s policies have failed for 42 consecutive months and now 12.8 million Americans are struggling to make ends meet.
“President Obama and the Democratic-controlled Senate refuse to even consider the more than 30 pieces of jobs legislation we have passed here in the House, and their divisive political tactics are fooling no one.
“It’s time for Mr. Obama, at the very least, to act like a responsible president and admit that he is wrong and his policies have failed. If he is unwilling to take ownership of the steady economic decline that has occurred under his watch, then he is turning his back on the future generations of this country.
“Americans need real relief in the form of active leadership and we must do better for the American people. Through passage and enactment of common-sense policies, we can create jobs, stimulate the economy, and put America back on the right track.”
