Marino votes to repeal Obamacare
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 16, 2013
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Tom Marino (R-PA) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 45, to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and health care-related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010:
“The American people already know Obamacare will result in an estimated 7 million jobs lost. We already know it's causing family premiums to go up and we already know by 2025 the so-called “affordable” care act will cost taxpayers trillions of dollars.
“What the American people did not know was that the agency responsible for enforcing this unpopular and ineffective law has been illegally targeting and discriminating against conservative-leaning groups since 2010.
“We knew this law would make life difficult for Americans, now we know the administration is committed to making life even more difficult for "certain people."
“If Obamacare goes into full effect in 2014, the IRS will have the authority to collect non-compliance taxes, distribute subsidies to low-income individuals, and force businesses and individuals to comply with the law. How can the American people trust the IRS to lawfully and impartially enforce the President's healthcare mandate?
“President Obama sold this law to the American public by promising universal coverage for a mere $940 billion. But we already know this law will cost taxpayers at least $2.5 trillion, and will leave some 30 million Americans uninsured.
“Today the House voted for the 37th time to repeal, replace or defund Obamacare and I will continue to vote to repeal, replace and defund Obamacare until my constituents have the choice of truly affordable healthcare.”
