Bradford County Residents Connect With Congressman
WASHINGTON (May 2, 2011) -- U.S. Rep. Tom Marino fielded questions and comments ranging from Social Security to rising gasoline prices from Bradford County residents during a May 2 telephone townhall.
Marino, a freshman lawmaker from Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District, conducted the townhall meeting from his Washington, D.C., office. About 3,500 residents were on the call.
“What I really love to do is to get out into every county and meet the people face to face and listen to their concerns,” Marino said. “But, hopefully, my constituents will appreciate this forum, too.”
Marino gave the telephone townhall participants an update on his work in Washington and encouraged them to follow him on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and through the website, http://marino.house.gov.
He talked about his March trip to the Middle East where he visited troops, officers and foreign leaders in Iraq and Afghanistan. Marino had nothing but praise for the men and women serving in the military.
“If those men and women are the future leaders of this country, we’re in great shape,” he said. “I asked them if they wanted to come back to me, and they said ‘no.’ They said they have a mission, they are committed to it and want to see it through and they are all coming back together.”
